Campaigns that we support…

Just One Tree

In 2019 we teamed up with Just One Tree to help launch their national non-uniform day raising money for tree planting. For every £1 donation at least one tree is planted via established re-forestation partners in countries like Kenya, Madagscar and Haiti. Working together, we have already helped Just One Tree to raise over £78,000 and plant over 100,000 trees, with 390 schools from across the UK and beyond taking part.

Already over 100 schools have taken part in the 2020 non-uniform day. Because of Covid we are encouraging schools to take part on whatever day is convenient. It can be ANY day in the school year! You can become part of our growing network of parents taking action and making a difference. The team at Eco Action Families will once again be helping to keep this fantastic campaign growing. All the information is ready for you to take to your child’s school. Just visit the schools page to receive a schools pack and sign up!

Music Declares Emergency!

Music Declares Emergency (MDE) is an independent group, created by artists, music industry professionals and organisations concerned at the lack of a cohesive, industry-wide response to the climate emergency.

MDE represents all areas of the music industry irrespective of genre, role, gender, race or sexuality and is led by individuals united by a deep concern for the climate and ecological emergency we currently face. If you are in the music industry you can sign the declaration

You can also support their work by buying a T-shirt.

Stop Ecocide

ECOCIDE is the mass damage or destruction of natural living systems. The Stop Ecodice campaign aims make the deliberate destruction of our planet and it's ecosystems a crime punishable by law. Building on the work of visionary lawyer Polly Higgins the Stop Ecocide legal team believe ECOCIDE should be recognised as an atrocity crime at the International Criminal Court - alongside Genocide, War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity.

Serious harm to the Earth IS preventable: When government ministers can no longer issue permits for it, when insurers can no longer underwrite it, when investors can no longer back it, when CEOs can be held criminally responsible for it, the harm will stop. You can directly support this campaign by signing up to become an Earth Protector.

Please sign these two important Ecocide petitions from Stop Ecocide International:

  1. Support making ecocide an international crime:

  2. Make ecocide a criminal offence in the UK:

The Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty

While world leaders have signed the Paris Agreement and many are setting ‘net zero’ targets, the Production Gap Report shows governments are still expanding coal, oil and gas.

To avoid the worst impacts of climate change we need to phase out fossil fuels. This will require international cooperation to make sure the transition is just and equitable.

That’s why Eco Action Families has endorsed the #FossilFuelTreaty

You can also endorse the treaty as a company, organisation, town council or as an individual at www.fossilfueltreaty.org

The Ripple Effect

In January 2021 we launched our campaign #TheRippleEffect along with Switchit and Stop Ecocide The idea is simple - Take three essential eco actions, then choose 3 friends and pass it on!

Each action is a hugely important step towards ending the age of fossil fuels and protecting the environment on which we all depend.

You can read more about it and download the Ripple Sheet on our dedicated page:

Make My Money Matter

Did you know your pension is likely invested in fossil fuels, tobacco, and arms? Make My Money Matter is all about raising awareness of the harm our savings could be doing and getting people to move their pensions.

Much of the £3 trillion in UK pensions is contributing to the deforestation of the Amazon, helping tobacco companies sell cigarettes, and funding new fossil fuel projects. Pension funds have invested trillions on our behalf without ever asking the crucial question – do these investments create a world we actually want to live in?

This contradiction means that through our pensions, ethical consumers may be investing in fast fashion, vegans investing in factory farming, climate activists investing in fossil fuels, and medics investing in tobacco. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Most people don’t know what their pensions are investing in or the impact that those investments have on the world. We don’t think it should be this way.

We believe that people should know what their pensions are invested in, and that they should be able to align those investments to their values. Because this is our money, and it’s one of the most powerful tools we have to change the world.

#TheGiftOfTime - Christmas 2020

KENNY+SMITH+All+of+us+on+the+streets+edited.jpg

A family campaign to raise awareness of over consumption at Christmas.

Head out for a walk, snap a selfie and pledge to give #thegiftoftime !

1. Grab some Christmas hats, fancy dress or red clothes and head outside for a walk in December!

2. Think about who you would normally buy presents for and how those store bought gifts could be replaced with a fun activity or outing that you could to do together instead.

3. Take a selfie!

4. Share your photo on social media tagging @ecoactionfamilies and @bigdreamslittlefootprints and using the hashtags #thegiftoftime #wrapyourselfupthisChristmas and #ditchthetat !

5. Follow @ecoactionfamilies and @bigdreamslittlefootprints on instagram for our December ‘gift of time’ advent calendar of ideas because…

Less stuff means less waste and better memories!

The manufacture, packaging, transport, wrapping up and disposal of all the things we buy has a huge environmental impact – deforestation, biodiversity loss, climate change and pollution.

Giving #thegiftoftime at Christmas can be more meaningful and more fun than giving a physical gift. It is also a challenge to consumerism and means less clutter, less debt, less stress and less waste. Visit Big Dreams Little Footprints for loads more brilliant, creative children’s gift of time ideas!
